Headin' to "God's Country"

As I sit here writing this it's only about 4 hours, give or take a few minutes, until I start driving to Ohio from Virginia for a week long vacation. I'm off to "home" to see the folks, celebrate homecoming at my old High School, play in the alumni band (sousaphone!), take my father down to Columbus to see Ohio State play Northwestern, and hear TBDBITL play.

I hope that everyone who reads this finds themselves blessed with a chance to rest and relax a little bit as we all welcome the season of Autumn, 2007.

What TBDBITL? "The Best Damned Band in the Land!"

App. St. 34- U of M 32

Sorry, but as a fan of Ohio State football I have to admit that I totally enjoyed the results of yesterday's game in Ann Arbor when Appalachian State "upset" Michigan. But it wasn't really an upset in that ASU played a game where, if they had lost, it would have been an upset the other way. Yes, they played that well.

Scoring 21 points in the 2nd quarter alone, they went into the locker room at half time with a healthy lead. It wasn't until the 4th quarter that Michigan seemed to wake up and get their game moving. But to be unable to convert on a 2 point try (twice), and having 2 field goals blocked (a total of 10 possible points) the Wolverines didn't deserve the victory.

Fleeting? Yes. But for those of us from Buckeye country it was sweet. Not to mention that the Buckeyes also won their game over Youngstown State.

The next post will probably deal with more faith based issues, but for now I'll savor this one.

Maranatha.
